I’ve been sick. It was prophesized that the first few months of a new preschool would be wrought with a never-ending cold and the mothers-who-came-before-me were all correct. And for the past two weeks I have been right on the edge of being down for the count. Working close to full time, but slower, with only the most important things getting done: my kid is getting fed and bathed, my clients are getting their immediate needs met, and payroll is getting met and run. But non-essentials are getting pushed. And this includes the blog.
Hence the WaxBlog hasn’t been updated for two weeks.
Here is where I should have heeded my own advice: I regularly suggest to my client bloggers that they bank up some posts. Block out some time when you aren’t on deadline and challenge yourself to write or at least start a bunch of posts — at least a few extras. That way, like a frozen casserole, you can pull them out in times of need.
Anyone else regularly think to bank posts and then just never get it done? Does anyone actually have banked posts? If so, I am so impressed. Please let me know. And in the meantime, I am off to pre-write some posts.

((Hugs)) to you, Emily. We went through a year of that with our first “public” year, so I definitely empathize with what you’re going through. Sometimes I wonder how children ever have a chance to learn anything, they’re so busy being sick all the time.
Banked posts? I’m laughing now, though I’ve tried to talk myself into it many times, but haven’t succeeded yet. All I can manage to do is get the 2-3 ones for the week written up at the beginning of the week and scheduled to go up.
Hope you are feeling better, Emily! I love the idea of banking blog posts. The only problem is finding time to do it!
If I can figure out how to prevent the literary equivalent of freezer-burn while the pre-written post awaits publication, I’ll be set!
I try to have a couple of banked posts ready for when life interferes. Every once in a while I see something that I want to blog about, and just do it for the heck of it and then when I need a blog, it is there all queued up and happy to post. And February is always the month they get used because, well, kids get sick. Never fails.
