Which Character are You?
![]()
Attention authors on Facebook: Connect with your readers by creating a quiz asking your fans
to find out which of your heroines they are. Easy to do, quick to take, and FUN. Sign onto Facebook and take the Julia Quinn quiz to try it out.
I was Henrietta from Minx, which does not exactly fit me (I am not really the tomboy type), but I had fun for the three minutes in which I was taking the quiz.
And of course, you can have your web team build the quiz for you if you are short on time. Just use Facebook for more than just status updates… Connect! And use whichever tools you can. Don’t forget to create a link on your website to the quiz as well — as powerful as Facebook is, your site still needs to be the definitive place on the web for all things you!

Hey that was my idea! Just kidding. People love quizzes, especially those that connect to them personally. I also get a huge a following when I do a “guess what song I’m writing to now” contest. By posting a few lyrics from a song, people love to show their mettle.
Timing is also important. Most people are on Facebook during (ahem) work hours … naughty! And in the evening after dinner.
I admit it: I have become a Facebook junkie. Some of you may know I’ve been on maternity leave for a couple of months (the twins are just shy of 11 weeks!), and during those months, before the start of semi-regular sleeping, I would spend late nights holding babies in front of my laptop, working my bluetooth mouse, staying connected to the outside world. In that time I took countless quizzes and reconnected with myriad friends.
I am definitely a convert now, and am on there several times a day. I cannot be the only one hooked! Grab all those FB junkies out there and get them taking your quizzes.
I took the JQ quiz and got Hyacinth. Fitting, I think.
Ah! Welcome to Facebook, Abi. Are you only on the personal side of FBook or also the public side. If on the public side, friend me. I promise to be your bff. (No, that’s not a threat.)
Congratulations on your pregnancy and your twins. I didn’t know you were gone (leaving Em in the lurch, ahem). Your twins have achieved semi-regular sleep in less than 11 weeks. Overachievers! Just like their mom.

Just on the personal side, alas.
Thanks on the congrats! Twins are twelve weeks tomorrow and now sleeping through the night (thank you Dr. Ferber)! Last night 7:15pm to 6am this morning. Heaven!
