Have you heard about Small Business Saturday? It’s Amex’s effort to “support the local businesses that create jobs, boost the economy and preserve neighborhoods around the country.”
We love it! If big stores can advertise for Black Friday, and the internet can max out bandwidth on Cyber Monday, why not Small Businesses?
Here are a few in our neighborhood:
Rockridge Kids: the bestest toy and baby gear store. All good stuff, almost no crap. (Angelina Jolie shopped here, too.)
Maison d’Etre: beautiful beautiful stuff for home and life.
Rockridge Home: Another great gift shop on College Avenue.
And for eating:
Bakesale Betty: the words alone make mouths water.
Mixing Bowl: This cafe in Telegraph Avenue is Tarrin’s (and my) favorite lunch place!
And for playtime:
Glitter & Razz: The best place for inquistive and curious kids for camp and after school stuff. And, they are having their first ever after Thanksgiving sale (plus they turned me on to this whole Small Business Saturday thing — Thanks Lynn)
