Not really an “author site” at all, actually. And calling it a dedicated “book site” would be inaccurate, too. Really, it’s a character site, as it the web home of Ronald “Cheesie” Mack, the 11-year-old narrator of Cheesie Mack Is Not a Genius or Anything–CheesieMack.com, and it’s brand new in our portfolio.
Cheesie Mack Is Not a Genius or Anything is a new book for young readers (ages 9-12) by Steve Cotler, –whom, full disclosure, I call “Dad” (I know, right?! Awesome! Go, DAD!)– and illustrated by Adam McCauley (of Wayside School fame). Throughout the book’s first person narrative, Cheesie references his website and its features, including places for readers to vote for their favorite food and share “unusual grandparent names.” Steve anticipated that his young audience would seek out Cheesie Mack’s website, not his author site. CheesieMack.com fulfills his book’s promise, while SteveCotler.com, which has long housed his blog of “irrepressibly true tales,” now provides author info for grown-ups.
Please have a look at the sites; both Steve and Cheesie would love for you to visit their worlds!

What a very smart way to reach his audience!
Thanks! Once I realized that Cheesie’s young readers would all be 21st-century, electronically hip kids, it seemed right to insert references to his website throughout the book.
Cheesie’s site offers young readers an opportunity to continue to suspend disbelief…and communicate with Cheesie. I have not found a similar site in the children’s book field. Thanks, Wax!
I think it is so cool. I definitely plan on buying this book for my nephew for when he’s a little older. He’s only five now!
Wax is thrilled to be a part of the Cheesie experience. (Thanks, Dad!)
