It’s no secret I am a big fan of fonts. I love all the little details that go into the serifs, the alternating thicknesses in curves, and the capital Ks (almost always the prettiest letter). I truly appreciate the math of it all. And even though my steadfast favorite for web copy is Verdana, the documentary Helvetica from 2007 is a big favorite of mine. (Bonus for amazon prime members: free streaming!). Long a standard for designers, we used it prominently for the masthead for StephanieTyler.com.

And then a few months ago, another triumph for the font Helvetica:
Crown Princess Maxima of The Netherlands could have done anything for her big 40th birthday extravaganza! Instead she chose something very clear and simple (below). The motif carried over for the boating jackets for the guests and was on all the event collateral.

Happy birthday to HRH, and huzzah for Helvetica.

Was going through my backlog of NPR reports, and saw this article on fonts:

and thought of this blog post. Helvetica, Gotham’s sneaking up on you! (much like Batman)
