The covers the author felt they should have had in the first place.
THE CHALLENGE: Create a trilogy cover set that was hot, alluring, playful, and “eye-catching even at thumbnail size,” and worked together when displayed in a row.
Candice Hern was known for the style of art that graced her Regency Rakes Trilogy (see below) and other books of hers as well. This series was much hotter than the other books and she wanted covers that were not only successful on their own, but also visually described the difference between the books. We had all the imagery we wanted for the other covers of her as they all came form her personal image collection. But for the Merry Widows, we needed something different.
OUR SOLUTION: Eye catching, indeed.
The three fans are actual Regency-era fans photographed from Candice’s personal collection, but then saturated in Photoshop. The three models in workable context each with a different gaze were very hard to find. And then they required make up to be removed (it was way too heavy), and in the case of the blonde, tendrils were added to make her more historically accurate.
